SHS Peanut Butter Rice Krispies

Hi friends! If I managed to lure you in with the title of this post, chances are you once loved our good ol' Sweetwater High School peanut butter rice krispies as much as I did. What wasn't to love? Back in the mid-nineties, my sweet mom would come visit me at lunch and bring a GIANT rice krispy from the high school cafeteria with her. I loved her for it. While reading through the "I Grew Up in Sweetwater, TX" group on Facebook last week, I came across a post for these delicious treats and just had to give them a try. The lady got the recipe from an ex-cafeteria worker that retired in '91. Sounds legit, right? They didn't disppoint! Hope you enjoy them as much as we have. Well, maybe not quite as much. Don't eat more than half a pan a day.

Ingredients:
2 c. sugar
2 c. corn light syrup
2 c. peanut butter (1 jar)
about a 13 oz box of rice krispies

Heat the corn syrup and sugar on the stove. DO NOT LET IT BOIL. Add in the peanut butter and stir until smooth. Add your rice krispies slowly and stir until all coated. Pour in a pan (we used a 13 by 9 in. and it was perfect) and let it sit to firm up and cut.
Note: Cut into squares while they are still warm...5-10 minutes after you pour into the pan. They dry fast! Your poor little knife will be forever grateful.
