Several weeks ago, I headed to Vanity Salon in The Heights for a complete makeover (shown above) and left feeling like a new woman! I had never colored my hair before but have wanted to try baylayage for awhile now and Melyssa brought my hair-dreams to life. Vanity is an Aveda salon meaning they only use Aveda products which I LOVE; I also got to bring some goodies home and can't stop smelling the hairspray. How do Aveda products smell so good?! Brittany did my makeup and I loved how natural it looked and felt. I'll tell y'all a little secret that I can't believe I'm confessing. I never, ever do this (well, not since high school) but I was such a fan of how Brit did my makeup that I didn't wash my face that night and slept in it. Big no-no, I know. Zach made fun of me but I wanted to live in it just one more day! And somehow it stayed on through the night and my skin didn't break out or get irritated at all. I'm telling you guys, Aveda products are the best (and no Aveda is not sponsoring this post, I just really love them).
If you live in Houston, chances are you've heard of White Linen Night in The Heights. On Saturday, August 5th from 6-10pm, the 200 and 300 blocks of 19th Street will be flooded with a sea of Houstonians supporting their dapper white attire. This area of The Heights has all kinds of cute shops, restaurants, and of course, Vanity Salon. That evening, Vanity is hosting it's very own White Linen Night Patron Party, complete with complimentary stress-relieving neck & shoulder massages, lip exfoliation & lip color application, Cooling Oil rituals & chilled toner mist, Aveda gift bags (to the first 150 guests so get there early!), and hors d’oeuvres & specialty cocktails. If you're planning on attending WLN be sure and stop by Vanity Salon for all the fun and pampering!
A few randoms because it's getting late and my mind is wandering. The first one is that Bear started swim lessons last week and is doing really well! I'll have a post on it soon, all about who he's taking from and how it's going. He's loves the water but he's been afraid to put his head under (he wouldn't even blow bubbles) and on the second lesson, his teacher had him going all the way under water. He didn't love it per se but he did it! And I was one proud mama. The other random is that the entire time I've been writing this post, I've been obnoxiously singing this song. We had a lot of friends and family go to a Jo Dee Messina concert on Saturday night and as soon as I saw a Snapchat of her singing Bye Bye, it was all over. And by all over I mean possibly my marriage because Zach may kill me if I don't stop singing this song 800 times a day. I can't help it- catchiest song ever! Does anyone else get songs stuck in their heads for days like that? I can't be the only crazy.
Hope your week is off to a great start!!
xo, Britt
