a fall dress
DRESS | BOOTIES | SIMILAR BAG

If you've been around here much you know that I wear a lot of dresses and living in Houston, that's never a problem when it comes to weather. We don't exactly have seasons here (more like hot and hotter) so dresses are a logical wardrobe choice year-round. I grew up in west Texas, though, where it actually does get cold and, gasp, even snows sometimes! I had to get a little more creative with my dress pairings back then so I wouldn't freeze my tushy off, like wearing boots, tights, cropped jackets, and dresses with sleeves. The last option is probably my favorite because I love fun lace and/or bell sleeves on dresses right now! The one pictured above is a dress I wore during NYFW (cue the yellow taxis) and since the weather was in the 60s that day, booties and long sleeves were perfect.
While this post is not in any way sponsored, I have to mention my love for Rent the Runway. While I was in New York, I utilized their storefront for all of my designer needs, including the Nanette Lepore dress I'm wearing above (full disclosure: I work with them on social media posts in exchange for product). Even if I weren't working with the company, I would still rent clothing from RTR because you can get designer pieces at a fraction of the cost and it's SO easy! If you're not in NYC, you just rent an item online and it comes to you on your selected date with a return label and instructions for sending back. If I were in high school all over again, this would 100% be the way I'd do prom & special occasion dresses. You can rent a dress that would normally cost thousands for around a hundred dollars and still feel like Cinderella for the night! Especially since you'd probably never wear the dress again anyway.
Bear is finally feeling a little better today (yesterday was rough) so we've spent the day baking all things pumpkin and getting out all of our fall decor. It may still be 95 degrees in Houston but we're ready for the pumpkin patch!
