a day out with my boys
Life has been super busy lately with school back in session, Boone starting MDO, work schedules, etc. We decided to spend the afternoon at River Oaks Shopping Center last weekend and I’m so glad we did! We all had the best time and made some lasting memories. Sharing more of the fun below!
When we first arrived at River Oaks Shopping Center, I was in much need of a coffee. We hit up Starbucks inside Kroger and I got the new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, which is delicious! We then headed to The Mad Potter, which y’all have heard me talk about before. Bear LOVES this place and I always enjoy seeing which pottery piece he’ll pick out to paint. This time he and Boone both chose race cars and we put our handprints on a bowl that will be such a special keepsake we can use for years to come. When we were leaving, Bear told me he wants to have his 7th birthday party at The Mad Potter. Who am I to say no to that? It’s the perfect place to host a party (the staff is so kind and helpful) and secretly I love painting the pottery myself. :)
After painting our masterpieces (and Boone wolfing down a corn dog), we walked over to Barnes and Noble to let the boys pick out a new book each. Bear somehow convinced us to get a toy as well, and we made such sweet memories up in the kids’ section. Did you know that at the River Oaks Shopping Center Barnes and Noble location, there’s free story time/activities on most Saturdays and Sundays at 11am? AND parents get to enjoy a free Starbucks tall, hot, or iced coffee (Sundays only). See the full calendar of events HERE. We are always excited to find fun, free entertainment for the boys! Especially since it’s still pretty hot outside in Houston.
All of our play worked up quite an appetite, so we headed over to Izakaya Wa for the most delicious lunch that left us all full and happy. The restaurant is new to River Oaks Shopping Center and I’d heard great things and so we were eager to try it. Make sure to get the Torimomo Panko Fried Skewers- I’m still dreaming about how good they were! The boys even loved them, too.
We made one last stop into Kartell because I was on the hunt for lamps and they have the most beautiful home furnishings. If you’re looking for anything for your home from bar stools to flatware, Kartell has it all. What I love is that everything you’ll find there is truly a statement piece and the quality is unmatched. I saw these glasses and can’t stop thinking about them; we may be making a trip back to the Center very soon.
Hope you’ve all had the best week! I’ve been a bit MIA since Imelda hit and our power went out, but we are safe and sound and praying for those who have had to evacuate their homes. Houston hasn’t seen anything this bad since Harvey and we can only hope it lets up soon, but I will keep you all posted.
All our fellow Houstonians, please stay safe and dry. And if anyone reading this needs help in any way, please message me. We are happy to help in any way we can.
xo, Britt
