101 Dalmatians

Hope you had a fun, safe Halloween!

We took these pictures three weeks ago with my sweet friend Aimey of Diamond Oak Photography; she seriously worked some magic. Bear was battling a nasty cold and didn't feel at all up to smiling, but Aimey somehow managed to catch him looking happy! If you live in the Houston area, you've gotta get in touch with Aimey for your next photo session. She's incredibly talented and her prices are amazing.

This was by far the easiest year we've had yet for costumes; once the idea was born it was pretty simple. We found Bear's dalmatian costume at Target and he was set. My heels are from Old Navy, the vest I scored at Goodwill for $1.99 (it's Vera Wang), the wig came from Amazon here, and the dress is Topshop from Nordstrom here. The gloves are several years old but I've seen red leather gloves in several stores this fall, like Forever 21 and Macy's. Oh and the cigarette, how could I forget! It's a skinny red paint brush with the bristles cut off. :)

I've found that the less I stress about things like this, the more fun they tend to be. The last several years I've worked tirelessly on our costumes, making twelve trips to the craft store and staying up 'til 3am the night before our annual Halloween Party. This year, though, we kept things laid back and had so much fun. Bear also didn't wear the dalmatian costume to trick or treat; he was Darth Vader (his choice). In fact, he's gone around in his Darth costume all day today, too. Pretty safe to say he never wants to take it off. Last night, he begged me to wear a Stormtrooper mask from Dollar Tree that looked more like Michael Meyers (according to Zach), so we didn't have as many trick or treaters as usual. More candy for us!

It's pouring in Houston and we've been birthday party hopping all day; time to lay on the couch in yoga pants and fuzzy socks. Cheers to the start of November!
