a fall picnic

Last week, Bear and I headed to Burroughs Park in Tomball for a fun fall picnic with friends. Our dear friends Aimey and Aria had set it up, and they couldn't have picked a more beautiful day for a picnic. The weather was glorious (in the shade, at least) and the kids had the best time running around and painting their very own little pumpkin. Bear and I grabbed a table and threw out a blanket, cheese spread, some mason jars with baby's breath, cookies & topping for the kiddos to decorate, and we were set. We planned on leaving after a couple of hours because of other prior commitments, but ended up staying at the park almost four hours because we just couldn't pull away. By the end, the kids were fishing and the mommas were relaxing in the shade, talking about babies & how much we hate to clean. You know, the norm.

Zach, Bear, and I try to go on picnics often, at least several times a month, just to get outside for a bit and take a break from our normal routine of the Chick Fil A drive-thru. My parents took my brothers and I on picnics all the time as kids and we loved it; I want Bear to have and cherish those same sweet memories. Usually Zach and I just grab Subway or pizza and take it to the park, but every season I try and throw together at least one legit picnic. One quick trip to HEB and we're in business. Also, the orangish cheese you see pictured was actually pumpkin spice flavored- you knew I couldn't let a fall activity go by without something pumpkin flavored in the mix. Oh and one of the moms, Ashley, brought the yummiest pumpkin scones ever. Pretty sure I ate five.

Bear's at MDO currently and I've had a busy morning of meetings, a doctors appointment, a manicure, and now chugging a vanilla latte at 1:30pm while trying to finish some deadlines. Y'all see how I snuck that mani in there...priorities.

What are some of your favorite fall activities to do, with or without little ones? I'd love to hear!
xo, Britt

p.s. For those of you who read yesterday's post, good news! We ended up getting the phones backed up and our new phones up and running (we switched providers, too, so that was part of the hassle). This iPhone 7 Plus is definitely gonna take some getting used to. Really, the thing needs it's own zip code. I feel like I'm toting around & taking calls on my iPad. This morning, I got in the car and set my purse in the passenger seat like I always do. Then, upon realizing that my new phone wouldn't fit in the cupholder like my old one, I laid the phone in the seat beside my purse. I hadn't even gotten to the end of the street when my car started beeping loudly at me, telling me the HUMAN in the passenger seat needed to buckle up. That has never happened before; the ginormous phone was mistaken for a human. So I buckled it up and we were on our merry way. One benefit- I'll have some nice biceps soon from lifting this thing.
