the sandal for summer
When I was in high school, I wore stilettos and five inch wedges all the time. I was crazy, I know. I still am a little crazy because I do sport painful shoes from time to time, but in the past ten years I've come to appreciate the value of a comfortable (and cute!) pair of shoes. When I saw these block heels from Alterre, I knew they needed a home in my closet. Not only are block heels totally in style right now, but they're also amazing Mom shoes. Never thought I'd say those words back in my stiletto days.
It's true though, I spend most of my days chasing around after a three year old track star. My kid may be on the chubby side but he can move. I like sneakers, but sometimes they just won't do. Alterre shoes are incredibly well-made and, in my opinion, adorable. How fun are the interchangeable straps?! I wear solid black sandals when I'm wearing them with a print, or I'll spice up a solid dress like the one pictured with the "Elsie in Carnaval" straps. Bear says, "Mommy, you got sprinkles on your shoes. That's cool!" I think so too, son. Remember this when you're sixteen.
I admit that I normally wouldn't pay this much for a pair of sandals, but these are worth every penny. Not only is it like getting a two for one, but the quality really is unmatched. The styles are all classic enough to be worn for years to come, and I love that I would buy them for both my fifteen-year-old cousin and my __ year-old Mom. Now that's a great shoe.
Houston was hit with another storm last night that knocked our electricity out for almost twelve hours, luckily it's back up and running (hence why this post is happening mid-afternoon!). From 4am-9am, Bear and I just sat on the couch looking at one another. He cried when Zach left for work at 7am; I'm sure he was secretly thinking "Don't leave me with this zombie, Daddy". It wasn't entirely my fault, without the Keurig I'm a worthless being. By 9 I finally felt human enough to drive us to Starbucks, where I pulled up to the drive-thru only to be heartbroken by an "out of power" sign. Don't you worry, we found a Starbucks that had power. And two venti vanilla lattes later, our day got awesome.
Hope yours is awesome, too!
xo, Britt

*How cute is my friend Dawn (the high-fiver)?! She's a fellow mommy blogger that I adore; it was her birthday the day these were taken so we went to brunch after. Something about the Sugar & Cloth Color Wall just makes a person happy and high-fivey.
