pom pom, tassels, & foam

Hi Friday, friends!
I rounded up some of my very favorite tassel and pom pom goodies; I seriously can't get enough of all things fringe. I wish I knew a girl that was graduating this year because I would so give her this adorable pillow. I've had my eye on these pom pom pineapple socks for weeks now and I'm finally gonna take the plunge and order them. It's not like I need them but you know, I need them.
When I can't think of much to write about on this blog, I usually choose to tell a random story. So today I'm rolling with that again.
The summer after fifth grade, my friends and I lived at our local country club pool. My family took our annual California vacation in July and on that trip, I purchased some shoes. Not just any shoes mind you, these were a very rare breed of platform wedges in which the soles were made from foam. That's right, foam-not as in college rave foam, more like a memory foam mattress pad. Either way, they were ridiculous. The soles were black, four inches tall, with these large bright blue flowers painted on them, and the straps on top of the shoe were similar to that of a flip flop. Do you have an image of these lovely sandals in your head yet?
So my friend Britnee Daniel and I were swimming it up one particular day when the lifeguard called a break and we decided we needed to go in the club restaurant for a drink. I had of course chosen to debut my new foam platform wedges, so we put on our towels and shoes to head inside. As I was opening the restaurant door, my shoe gave way to my weight and my ankle rolled, causing me to hit a fence and fall down embarrassingly. Not only had my new shoes failed me in front of my friends, but my heel also managed to catch the only rusty nail on the whole fence and I was left with a nasty little cut that required a trip to the ER and a tetanus shot. Needless to say, those shoes were never worn again. And you would think I learned my lesson, that fashion is not worth risking one's health and safety. However I still wear silly high shoes, just as long as the sole isn't made out of foam. I'll leave that for the frat parties and Burger King playgrounds.
xo, Britt
p.s. One more little random- Bear and I were listening to the Abbey Road album this morning when he saw the vinyl cover and goes, "Hey, are those guys crossin' the street?" Blame it on sleep deprivation but I couldn't stop laughing. I love observant little minds!
