3 trends to try now

As a stylist, it's my job to help people look and feel their best while pushing their comfort limits and encouraging clients to try something new. It's sort of like food- you can't knock it till you try it! That's not a good analogy for me though because I'm a pretty picky eater...one of those "plain and dry" kinda gals. When it comes to fashion, however, I'll try pretty much anything. Sometimes that's a good thing, other times not so much...but here are 3 currents trends I'm loving (that actually work) that you should try, too!

1. Ruffle sleeves- I have to say that of all the client bios I read, ruffles is most often at the top of the "dislikes" list. And I get it, ruffles can be a bit over the top sometimes. But forget about the disastrous 80's prom dress your Mom wore in high school and think more along the lines of subtle chic like this sweater or this one that's on major sale. Ruffles can create balance by adding a sweet, feminine element to an otherwise edgy outfit and as long as they're placed correctly, can actually be flattering.

2. Stacked bracelets- This trend is nothing new; it's been going strong for several years now but isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I'm obsessed with my Renegade Cluster Bracelet by Stella and Dot- I wear it almost everyday because it's stretchy and easy to throw on. I've found that mixing stretchy bracelets with bangles is the best way to achieve goal-worthy "arm candy", and the pieces just fall together best this way. You also need a classic watch that goes with everything- I'm a huge fan of this Timex one that is currently 20% off. One false belief is that you can't mix metals- totally NOT true. Pairing silver & gold together is actually on trend right now!

3. Distressed denim- My grandma would have a cow if she read this post right now (sorry, Mamaw!). Holy jeans are everywhere you turn right now and I'm right there on the bandwagon. They're a nice edgy balance to a feminine ruffle top and add a little interest to your look. My justification for wearing lots of rips is that it's hot in Houston- my legs need to breathe! The pair I'm wearing are currently on sale for under $20 and perfect to wear all spring and summer, too.

I hope you're having a great weekend! We are having a pretty lazy Sunday, thanks to the rain and Dallas Cowboys game. I'm not hating it. Cheers to a new, exciting week!
