galentine's day at sonoma
Last weekend, Sonoma Wine Bar in The Heights graciously hosted me and seven of my blogging friends for the most perfect Galentine's Day dinner. We were truly "wined and dined"- it was the most beautiful evening on the rooftop patio with the best company a girl could ask for. Every single dish we were served was not only exquisitely displayed but absolutely delicious. A few of my favorites were the zucchini chips with a homemade lemon yogurt sauce, sesame crusted ahi tuna with a soy glaze, and of course the cheeseburger sliders. And the fried cheese curds. Ohhhh the fried cheese curds. Pretty sure I ate at least four of those bad boys (and they weren't small). My mouth is watering just thinking about how yummy it all was- I'm already dying to get back to Sonoma soon! I'll show you the pictures and you'll see why...

Every aspect of our Sonoma experience was top notch- from the service, to the food itself, to the stunning rooftop patio with views overlooking downtown Houston. This was my first time at Sonoma and I figured I'd have trouble parking like I always do when I venture "out of the burbs" but I just pulled right into the restaurant and parked- no annoying valet, having to walk two miles in high heels, or parking meters. That alone scored a lot of points for this amateur parallel parker! The atmosphere inside of the restaurant was so cool and laid back, yet with an understated urban, edgy vibe. All in all it was an evening that I will never forget, sipping rose and laughing over silly stories with the dearest of friends. It was the best Galentine's Day I've ever had. I'm thankful for each of these girls and the friendships we share, as well as Sonoma for hosting such a special evening for us.
This post is definitely a bittersweet one for me, as three years ago on this exact day I lost my best friend in a tragic car accident (our story here). Not a day goes by that I don't think about and miss my Beanie; just yesterday I bought a sack full of Cadbury Creme Eggs at Target and cried as I ate three of them in my car (they were our favorite treat). Life without my best friend, the sweetest soul I've ever known, has not been easy. No-one could ever take her place and she will forever hold a special spot in my heart. Happy Galentine's Day to the best gal pal a girl could have. I love you always, Beanie Sue.
