KIMONO | DRESS | BOOTIES | BAG | NECKLACE

photos by Ban Avenue Photography

While this cape/jacket/kimono piece may be the first thing to catch your eye, these blue velvet booties definitely deserve a mention. I scored them at Macy's Backstage recently for a steal and have been finding countless ways to wear them ever since. I think I'm mostly a sucker for the gold heel- they're even prettier in person! Pregnancy makes me gravitate toward shoe shopping since I don't feel like buying normal clothes I can't fit into and maternity clothes aren't really my jam. I mean don't get me wrong, I wear maternity clothes. I'm all about the stretchy waistbands. But maternity clothes usually come with a hefty price tag that doesn't seem worth the splurge when you only wear the item for a few months. If anyone knows of any cute, affordable maternity shops, please send the info my way!

My love for shoes existed long before I ever got pregnant; I think I've told the story on here before about the time when I was around 10 years old that I wore the most ridiculous platform flip flops (think Baby Spice) to the swimming pool, rolled my ankle into a fence, and landed in the Emergency Room. In high school I wore stilettos almost daily, which I now realize wasn't the most practical of choices. Now that I'm a Mom, my clothing/shoe pieces have to be a little more comfortable and I think I'm good with that. I always love when fall rolls around because booties are my favorite- they're so comfy and can be dressed up or down. Any mama's dream shoe!

I'm 22 weeks pregnant today and finally have a little bump showing! Just in time for our big ultrasound tomorrow. Zach won't be able to make it due to work which I'm a little disappointed about because he missed the last one and I think this is the last "big" sonogram, but hopefully Baby Boy will cooperate and the doctor can capture some good pictures I can show Zach and Bear later. Our doctor's office has a 3D sonogram as well which shows amazing details of the face- I'm so excited to see our little guy and praying everything checks out okay. Bear was with me for the last sonogram and he thought it was really cool but also had no clue what he was looking at. I kept asking him if he could see his baby brother (who was clearly moving around on the giant screen) and he'd say, "No, where's he at?". I think Bear's ready for the real deal (and so am I). :)
Hope your week is off to a great start- thank you for stopping by!
