my honest thoughts on being a boy mom

Since finding out we are having another boy, a question I've been getting is, "Do y'all want to try for a girl after this?". The answer to that is always "No, we are happy with whatever God gives us!" and honestly, it's the truth. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't love to experience having a daughter one day, especially since my Mom and I are very close and she's basically my best friend. However, I see her relationship with both of my brothers and it's pretty much the sweetest thing ever- they would do ANYTHING for their "Momma". My brothers are so, so sweet with my Mom (more so than me, I'm sure) and always have been. It makes me happy to watch their mother/son dynamic and now that I have a little boy of my own, I'm getting to experience much of the same which is incredible. I'm so very thankful to have a son of my own and cannot wait to have another baby boy to love on!

While it's obvious that I love clothes and all things girly, I equally love shopping for boys. There's a common misconception that there are "no cute clothes for little boys" which couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, I found that when Bear was younger and I put him in outfits with bow ties, suspenders, loafers, etc., he received so many compliments because it's more rare to see little boys all dressed up. It can be challenging to find cute pieces for boys but they're definitely out there- some of my favorite places to shop for Bear are Dillards, Nordstrom, Target, and of course Etsy shops. It's so much fun to dress boys up like a "little man" :). My Mom always told me, "If you have all boys and can't buy little girl clothes, just buy more for yourself!". Funny but I think I make that happen (without trying).

Of course it's not all about the clothes or shopping, but just in general I am crazy about being a boy mom. Little boys are SO much fun- it's always an adventure and no 2 days are ever the same. I also like that Bear and Zach can go do "boy things" together like work in the yard, go to football games, etc. It's really special to see their father/son relationship and it melts me to see what an amazing Daddy Zach is- Bear has Zach wrapped around his little finger (and I'm sure this baby will be no different). Bear also has 6 boy cousins (no girls) which is a blast when they all get together- he is completely obsessed with his cousins. I'm sure they'll get into all kinds of trouble as they get older since they're all pretty close in age but they will have lots of fun doing it! It's really sweet seeing all the boy cousins in action, especially out on the farm going on "coyote hunts" with all their camo gear on. Cuteness overload! Bear was hoping for a brother, too, so I can't wait to see the bond these two will share.

I could ramble on all day on all the reasons I love being a Boy Mom, because it really is the best role I've ever been given. Boys or girls, Zach and I feel extremely blessed to have a healthy child and another one on the way. Bring on all the dirt, baseball practices, and roughhousing. We (think we) are ready!
