seasonally confused
sweaterdress | booties | sunglasses
You’re probably thinking I’m a bit seasonally confused by the looks of this post- a sweater dress by the pool, Brittany? Really? I wasn’t actually lounging poolside in this, thankfully… I wore this sweater dress while we were in Vegas and we had just had brunch this particular morning before walking by the pool on the way back to our room. It was a cool 68 degrees that morning and this outfit felt perfect! I love sweater dresses in the fall, especially paired with booties for a comfy yet pulled-together look. And the truth is, it’s getting to be that point where I AM in fact seasonally confused. Come November 1st, post Halloween, I’m ready for all things Christmas. I know some of you are Thanksgiving loyal and think putting the tree up prior to Turkey Day is ridiculous, but I can’t help it. I live for Christmas! Anyone else?!
The weather has finally cooled off in Houston (it’s a chilly 51 degrees this morning which is cold for us!) and it’s like we jumped from tank tops to wool coats overnight. Nothing in between for Texas this year- fall never really arrived but winter is here. This makes me even more ready for Christmas and I find myself living in cozy pajamas and slippers, drinking hot chocolate by the fire, and counting down the days until Hallmark Christmas movies begin. Which is in FOUR DAYS, by the way. Can’t even begin to tell y’all how excited I am for those…I have a problem, I’m aware. And I know they’re all the same- cheesy, predictable, unrealistic, yet so good. SO good!
I’m sorry if you’re a fall-lover and I’ve just skipped right over it; I do actually love fall, too. It’s probably my favorite season, but it’s hard when you don’t get the weather of that season to truly enjoy. The leaves don’t change to beautiful shades of red and orange here in Houston like they do in the Pacific Northwest, and there’s nowhere here to get a good apple cider donut. We DO have our fair share of pumpkin patches, which our family hit up again over the weekend, and we love those! We’re trying to keep living our best fall life as much as possible before November 1st when I start bombarding y’all with all things Christmas.
So I have to know…are you ready to pull out the tree and start decorating for the holiday season? Or do you wait until after Thanksgiving?
Speaking of trees, we need to get a new one this year and I’d love any recommendations if y’all have a faux tree you love. I saw some gorgeous ones in At Home the other day but they were pretty pricey. If Santa spends all his money on a tree, he won’t be able to put much under it. :)
Hope you had a great weekend and thank you for sticking with this very random post! I’ll be sharing our kitchen later this week with a project we’ve been working on and I’m so excited for y’all to see!
xo, Britt
