how to travel comfortably & in style
jumpsuit | sandals | bag | sunnies
Every time we are going on a trip, I’m one of those weirdos who actually enjoys packing. Unpacking, not so much. But packing is fun to me- I love planning out outfits, which in turn gets me excited for all the activities that we’ll be wearing those outfits for. I say “we” because now that I’m a mom, packing entails much more than just my own suitcase, and I usually spend more time packing for the boys than I do myself! The biggest challenge is always not what we put in our suitcase, but what we’re wearing to and from our destination. There are several reasons for this- A- It’s usually a million degrees in Houston and a different climate wherever we’re going, so I don’t want us freezing when we get to our destination. And B- I want us to all be as comfortable as possible while managing to wear something other than pajamas. The struggle is real!
I wore this jumpsuit home from Vegas a few weeks ago and it was the perfect travel outfit, especially for a breastfeeding mom. I tied a denim jacket around my waist and I was set for whatever temperature the plane happened to be. I know not everyone loves traveling in sandals but between airport security and how my feet swell on planes, this is my preferred shoe for flying during warmer months. On the plane to Vegas, I was a little more casual with camp print leggings, a waffle knit top, and slip-on sneakers. That’s the beauty of athleisure wear being so popular- there are so many cute options in stores and it’s great for travel or everyday wear.
When it comes to the boys’ travel outfits, I always put comfort first. If we’re going somewhere that I want them to have nice outfits for, I’ll just pack their change of clothes in a carry-on (or small bag if we’re road tripping) and change them when we get there. I don’t dare put them in dressy clothes for travel- not only do the clothes never make it to our destination in a presentable fashion but the boys do better when they’re comfortable. And I get that, because I’m the same way!
There really aren’t any rules when it comes to traveling comfortably and in style- it’s most important to pick out pieces that work best for you and what the climate is. Always have a sweater handy, and choose options that could work in all climates, like a jumpsuit or leggings and lightweight long sleeve top. Don’t overthink it, but comfort is always key!
Boone and I took Bear to school bright and early and now we’re headed to meet our friends Kylee and her daughter, Blair, at a local coffee shop. Our family is especially ready for the weekend because my parents are coming to visit and it’s been several months since we’ve seen them. Also, Halloween is next week! Also, Hallmark Christmas movies start TOMORROW! So much to be excited about!
