Y’all know by now that I’m festive AF and love all things holiday focused! This beings at the end of August when it’s still 105 degrees out yet fall decor hits the shelves of stores and I just can’t help myself. So naturally by October, we are ready to hit the pumpkin patches! Growing up in small town West Texas, I didn’t realize what a “thing” pumpkin patches are most places because we didn’t have a patch. We didn’t even have a Walmart until my senior year of high school. But we did have a Sonic so….life was still good.

Since having Bear, we have visited many a local pumpkin patch and have so many favorites! There are lots of things to be considered when heading to one: Are you looking strictly for photo opps? Wanting activities like hay rides and corn mazes? Is location a factor so you don’t have to drive an hour each way? Totally get all of those points which is why I’m explaining why we love each of the following places below, and sharing both pros and cons of each place.

Our favorite Houston pumpkin patches:
1. Old Time Christmas Tree Farm- This is actually our favorite spot to pick out a Christmas tree each holiday season, but also has a great pumpkin patch! Admission is $5 per person (kids under 2 are free), but there are plenty of cute photo opps making it worth the charge in my opinion. They have lots of attractions so you can spend an afternoon here, including a train ride, hay ride, petting zoo (not open on Fridays), giant slide and mini slide, inflatable corn maze, bounce house, and jump pad. Each activity does cost separately, typically $3 per activity. Best part? They have little red wagons for hauling your pumpkins which make for great kid photos!

2. Faith United Methodist Church on Rayford Rd- This is where the above photos were taken and it was our first time visiting this patch. Bear LOVED it- admission is free and there are tons of great photo spots (we didn’t hit a lot of them, including a cute hay set-up). The pumpkins are priced very affordably and it isn’t crowded (we drive by daily), which is also nice for getting pictures. There aren’t activities so this is strictly for picking out pumpkins and photos. Added bonus: across the street is Theiss Market, a farmer’s market that also has an amazing pumpkin and mum selection as well as tons of local jarred foods and fresh fruits/veggies. Photo opportunities here, as well.

3. 7 Acre Wood- We’ve gone here the past several years and hope to make it back in the next few weeks. You can spend HOURS here- there are tons of activities and fun for kids. The kids “fall special” includes admission, pony ride, hay ride, barrel express ride, and a mini pumpkin. Adults are $8 which includes admission and a hayride. You can bring in your own picnic lunch to eat at one of the picnic tables by their playgrounds, or enjoy tasty treats from the concession stand. It was warm enough for sno-cones last year which the boys loved! While there are photo opps, I’d say they aren’t as great as some of the other patches. They do have several set-ups but not in the shade, so if it’s sunny out, your pictures might not come out very well. This place is more for the fun and experience, I’d say for kids age 2-10.

4. Old Macdonald’s Farm in Humble- This has been our most-visited patch as we’ve gone several times each year (pictures HERE), and we never leave disappointed. Bear loves this place with or without pumpkins, but it’s even more fun in the fall! Admission is $12 per person and includes all activities offered at the farm (kids 18 months and under are free). While the cost can definitely add up in a hurry for large families, it’s worth it in our opinion because admission includes endless train rides, pony rides, animal petting, playgrounds, and patch visits! There are tons of great photo opps, and each child gets to take home a pumpkin of any size.

5. Dewberry Farms Pumpkin Patch -This humongous patch is located in Brookshire and has 8 acres of pumpkins to choose from. A wagon ride over to the patch will kick off the pumpkin picking fun, and after you can head on over to the 8-acre corn maze or check out more than 500 lighted pumpkins on display at Punkin Hollar. This is the priciest patch on the list, as general admission to Dewberry Farm is $31.82 per person (age 3 and under are free) but includes all of the main attractions offered.

6. Holy Cross Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch in Sugar Land -Starting today, Holy Cross Episcopal Church is hosting their annual pumpkin patch, dubbed "the biggest pumpkin patch in Fort Bend County," every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through the end of October. Fridays are solely for pumpkin picking, but Saturdays and Sundays at the patch also feature live entertainment, a photo booth, lots of food, and plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages. There’s no admission fee and the church offers hayrides, a children's maze, bounce house, family photo booth, face painting, sno-cones, popcorn, cotton candy, and a silent auction. Worth the trip for the smoked brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, and sausage on a stick- SO good!

7. St. Luke’s United Methodist Church- We took photos here last year but I can’t seem to find the blog post…they came out so well and we really enjoyed the patch. If you’re in town or in the Galleria area, this is a great spot to hit up for some pumpkin pictures with your little ones. They have literally thousands of pumpkins and the church itself is beautiful, making it a prime fall photo spot. Admission is free but there are no activities other than pumpkin picking.

*I’m not sure if TGR Exotics still has a pumpkin patch or not. This was Bear’s first patch (pictures HERE) and we loved it! There are tons of exotic animals which is really fun for kids, and lots of photo opps. I tried calling but couldn’t get anyone or find recent info online, so if you’re local and know if they still have a patch, please let me know!

I could keep going all day as this is clearly a topic I’m interested in, but I only want to share the best with y’all! Have I missed a pumpkin patch that you and your family enjoy? Please share your favorites in the comments as we’re always down to visit a new patch.
And hope you all have a great weekend!
