Several weeks ago, my parents came in town for my birthday and post-celebrations, we took a little road-trip to what is now our new favorite waterpark. Splashway exceeded all of our expectations and we're already talking about next year's trip! Even from our neck of the woods north of Houston, the drive was under 2 hours and totally worth it. Bear had the time of his life and my parents and I couldn't believe how brave he was- he wanted to do every single water slide (even some that he wasn't quite tall enough for yet). Boone hung out in the shade of our private cabana living his best life, too. Sharing more of our experience below!

The thing about Splashway is, it's not just a waterpark. While it's a world class one at that, it's so much more. The entire experience is one that kids and parents alike can relish in and soak up summer in it's purest form by means of camping in the cozy cabins, roasting marshmallows around a fire, watching a movie on the big grassy lawn by night, and playing putt putt by day. Life slows down a little bit at Splashway- if you go, you'll see exactly what I mean. After a few hours at the waterpark the first day we were there, we checked into our cabins and instantly fell in love. Bear was so pumped about having his own loft to sleep in and we felt we were really camping, while still having a large kitchen, living area, screened in porch, etc. "Glamping", really (which I was totally good with). We decided to cook hot dogs on the fire followed by s'mores, then my parents watched Boone while Bear and I walked over to watch Coco on the lawn with our friends. On the walk over, Bear looked up at the sky and said, "Mommy- you can actually see the stars!". This was a big moment for our little city boy. He pointed out the big dipper and I'm pretty sure it was his first time seeing it, which made his trip...and mine, too.

There are several large playgrounds at the campground area which Bear loved as well and played on with his friends during the evening hours. Bigger kids were playing basketball on the basketball courts, while the little ones ran around and explored. My only regret is wishing we'd had another night in the campground because we all enjoyed it so much!

The waterpark itself was nicer than I could ever begin to describe in a blog post- you really just have to experience it for yourself. I've never been to a waterpark so clean, family friendly, and safe. From toddler pools to giant water slides, there's truly something for everyone at Splashway. And the food was AMAZING- we ordered everything from grilled chicken wraps to chili cheese nachos and were in absolute heaven. We were also impressed with how reasonably everything was priced and how sweet our servers were. As I mentioned, we had a private cabana with service at the touch of a button which was the way to go. I was able to nurse Boone in privacy and he had a shady spot to hang out, since my parents and I would take turns sitting with him while the other two explored with Bear and friends. It was so much fun and we can't wait to get back to Splashway! 

I think what blew me away the most was that every day at 1pm, Splashway stops everything and asks people to have a moment of silence for those serving our country. They proudly fly a row of American flags and play the National Anthem, and everyone in the park stops what they're doing to put their hand over their heart and pay tribute to our nation's heroes. I had chills and tears in my eyes and knew in that moment that this was the kind of place I wanted to bring my boys.
