so long summer

I have mixed feelings about the title of this post- while I'm very much ready for some cooler temps in Houston (that will probably arrive around December), I'm sad to say goodbye to pool days and the lazy days of summer (even though our summer didn't allow for much lounging between a newborn & a move). Growing up with two teachers for parents, we relished the summer months and lived our best life from May-August, traveling a ton and spending as much time poolside as possible. Now that I'm an "adult"-ish, I still have that same YOLO summer mentality and feel like the real world hits again once school starts. Bear started kindergarten last week and we're on the serious struggle bus trying to get into a routine, get up "in the sixes" five days a week, pack lunches, etc. I know that once we get the hang of it, it'll be no big deal but for now we are seriously missing summer! And none of us more than Bear Clayton.
Another reason for the title of this post is that this is pretty much the last summery outfit I'll be sharing on the blog this season. There will still be summer looks on Instagram as the temperature continues to be 29048483 degrees in Houston, but as far as content for Hello Honey I'll be shooting fall looks from here until November when I get to go Christmas crazy (and y'all know I will). Fall is probably my favorite season as far as clothing goes- I love chunky knit sweaters, comfy leggings, cozy cardigans, boots, scarves, etc. We don't really have fall in Houston so I live vicariously through all of you who actually have seasons while I sweat in my scarves down here on the coast. It's beginning to sound like I'm a bit over this Houston heat, don't you think? I'm also a bit sad that I'm not heading to New York Fashion Week this year; I've been and loved it the past 3 years but decided to skip a season with Boone being so little and another trip we have coming up in October. Going to NYFW in mid-September would always give me my fall-fix since the weather in New York is so nice in September. And I've still never seen a Broadway play! I keep telling my Mom we need a girls' trip to the city (or just anywhere for that matter).
I hope you all had a great weekend and that your week is off to a great start! Most of the schools down here are starting this week and I love seeing all the back to school pictures (except of my own baby- that one made me cry!). I'll be back soon with fall-inspired outfits & of course more rambling. :)
