overalls: they're back

When I was in the sixth grade, I had these long Tommy Hilfiger denim overalls that I thought were really something. I'd pair them with my bright yellow Tommy Girl puffer vest and Dr. Marten boots and I felt like a million bucks. If those pictures ever turn up, rest assured that I will burn them or they could be serious blackmail.

Nowadays, overalls are back in style but in a much chicer way. Instead of the baggy, one strap hanging down, cargo pockets on the side look (I could walk around with a hammer hanging on my right leg), the new overall trend consists of sleek fitted denim that's both flattering and comfortable. The pair I'm wearing is stretchy, so I can throw on sandals and a tee shirt and chase Bear around if need be. And need usually be.

The day these pictures were taken, I had lunch with the sweetest group of girls at Brasserie 19. It was our friend Dede's "birthday" (birth-week-ish), and the waiter brought out the most amazing cotton candy dessert with sparkler candles. If you're ever in the River Oaks area of Houston, you must stop at this picturesque restaurant with marble tabletops and the yummiest (though most difficult to pronounce) French cuisine. I missed Bear while he was in MDO that day but was simultaneously very thankful that he wasn't there to wreck havoc on the all white decor. I also didn't spot a grilled cheese or chicken nuggets on the menu, so that would've been a problem.

It's a gorgeous day in Houston today and I'm headed to the park to read a book for a bit before meeting my sweet friend Shelbi for lunch. We really sound like ladies who lunch, don't we? We're not that fancy, I promise. Sometimes it's just Chick Fil A or Chipotle, and those happen to be our favorite meals. Thank you for stopping by!
