Hi, friends! Can you believe another weekend has come and gone? It's flown by for us but it's been a good one despite the ongoing rain in Houston. I got to have brunch with girlfriends two days in a row, so that's major winning. Yesterday I met a group of local bloggers at The Westin Hotel in The Woodlands and we ate at their restaurant, Current. The food was absolutely amazing and the presentation was almost too pretty to devour (but we did anyway). I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes with a side of peppered bacon and it was the perfect mix of salty and sweet. I'm wondering how I'll ever go back to eating regular old pancakes after those; lemon is always a good choice.

Last week, I had a photo session with Elisheva Golani who is just as precious as she is talented. A few days before, Elisheva suggested I have my makeup done by one of her good friends, Rivki. I said yes right away, because I need some serious help in the makeup department. Y'all are probably thinking, "Yeah, we see your pictures all the time. We know". I just don't have the patience to watch a million Youtube tutorials and there are so many products out there that it overwhelms me. I need more than one brush? Who knew. There's such a thing as eyeshadow primer? Fascinating.

When I got to Rivki's home, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've only had my makeup professionally done one other time for a friend's wedding, and other than that it's just been me and the Maybelline. So I sat in her fancy chair in her huge bathroom hyped up on coffee and ready to learn how this art (because it's truly a form of art) is done. You guys. First let me say that Rivki is so beautiful in person, she asked how I wanted my makeup done and all I could muster was "Just make me look like you". It definitely helps to have a stunning makeup artist who obviously knows what they're doing. Rivki took her time, probably because my scary face required so much work, and she did such an amazing job. She didn't rush, which I love, and she made me feel like the best version of myself. I didn't feel like a different woman afterwards, I just felt like an enhanced form of what I'm used to. And it felt amazing. Every woman should get to feel that way once in a while, if not on a regular basis!

I wish I could say that I watched Rivki closely and learned how to properly apply makeup, but truthfully I was just taking mirror selfies and chatting it up with her the whole time. She does teach private lessons, which I'm definitely going back for soon. I have to know how she made my skin look flawless (and stay that way all day); she worked some serious magic. Whether you have an upcoming wedding, photo shoot, or just a day off and looking for something fun to do, you should definitely have your makeup professionally done. You'll be surprised at the difference it makes, and everyone deserves a good pampering! You won't even need that amazing Snapchat filter (you know, the one we all love).
