NYFW day one
romper dress | booties | clutch | sunnies | earrings
Last Thursday night, my friend Shelbi came to stay the night because we had to wake up at 3:15am to get ready and head to the airport for a 6am flight to Newark. I had worked 8 hours styling for LOFT that day and run a million errands on not much sleep all week, so getting 1 hour of sleep Thursday night was probably not the wisest. Oopsies. Anyway, we woke up at the literal crack of dawn, called an Uber, and headed for IAH.
We landed at Newark at 10:15am and I had the first meeting of the day with my Snap+Style bosses, so I left Shelbi and Margret with my luggage and headed for Park Avenue Autumn. It was my first time meeting my bosses face to face, even though I've worked for the company for almost a year, so I was pretty nervous. Luckily they were so sweet and helpful with tips for getting around the city. I was especially nervous to meet Anna Jensen, the company's co-founder, but she turned out to be such a doll. Park Avenue Autumn was also incredible; they change the restaurant menu and decor completely with each season (they had just changed everything from summer a few days prior). I was happy to catch the autumn menu because it was delicious, especially the mini pumpkin breads they brought out before the meal. Oh and my bosses ordered salads and I ordered a cheeseburger.....no secret that I was the Texan at the table.
After leaving that meeting, I walked a few blocks to meet Shelbi where we caught an Uber and headed for the Gigi New York pop-up shop in the Meatpacking District. We got to view the new fall collection which is stunning, grab some fun photos, and were gifted a beautiful journal and pen.
From there, we hopped in a cab and headed to our next meeting at Now+Zen PR. I had been in touch with several of the girls there and they let us take some designer pieces on loan to wear during our stay; they also let us go wild in the gifting suite. I ended up with a camel-colored coat and the suede peep-toe booties I'm wearing in this post. It was hard not to take everything and run but ya know, the goal is to be grateful and not too greedy. Still, it felt a little like Christmas.
We left Now+Zen and headed toward the hotel to get ready for the evening's events. As we were walking, I spotted Amber Fillerup Clark shooting photos with her husband and we had a total fangirl moment. I've followed her blog for years and am obsessed with her precious kids and gorgeous golden locks. It was so cool meeting her in person! She and her husband were both super sweet and personable; we were actually the ones to end the conversation since we needed to get back. They were the friendliest New Yorkers we encountered (by far). :)
After changing at the hotel and snapping some photos, we walked about ten minutes to the Lulu's Style Studio event. You guys, this party was incredible. The line was crazy long out the door but when we got inside and checked in, it was like heaven. There were gifting stations all over the place, handing out everything from Nume wands to makeup and lots in between. We walked upstairs where we got to pick out several pieces of Lulu's clothing, go to town on cotton candy & champagne, and do some legit people watching. There were also braid bars, makeover stations, and nail bars set up throughout the event. Everything was complimentary and fabulous. We ended up missing the Katie Gallagher presentation we were invited to because we just couldn't get out of that dang Lulu's party. It sucked us in, for sure. #worthit
After realizing we weren't gonna make it to the Katie presentation in time, we opted for pizza instead. Always a good choice, right? We walked to a pizza place on the corner by our hotel, had some $1 slices, and headed to the room to get some rest. I've never fallen asleep as quickly as I did that night; I was running on some serious fumes. It was such a fun, full day and I'm missing NYC already. I'll be back with a recap of day #2 tomorrow!
